A DUDLEY maintenance worker couldn't believe his luck when he won a £30,000 cash prize with the People's Postcode Lottery.

Adrian Goodaker's postcode, DY2 0YD, was announced as a winner with the lottery on Thursday May 6 and the 56-year-old first learned he had scooped the prize during a video call with lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson.

He described the win as "fantastic" and said: "Wow, that is superb. A lot of zeroes, that is bonkers.”

His partner Jenny Gardner, a schoolteacher, joined him on the call and said: “It’s awesome, completely overwhelming.”

When asked what their plans would be for their winnings - Adrian, a self-employed maintenance worker, said: “There’s lots of things we need to do, so we will sort things out.

“There’s lots of work that needs doing on the house, the garden front and back needs to be done. I might even change my car.”

He said he'd also like to book a holiday and added: "Obviously, it’s been difficult with everything that’s been going on but if we just have a holiday in the UK it would be something to look forward to."

Every day throughout the April and May draws one postcode will be announced as a £30,000 prize winner.

All the players in the postcode will win £30,000 for every ticket they hold.

People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month to play and there are guaranteed winners every day. People play with their chosen postcode and are automatically entered into all draws.

A minimum of 32 per cent of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped raise more than £700 million to date for thousands of good causes across Britain and internationally.

This draw was promoted on behalf of Postcode Animal Trust which supports organisations including Dogs Trust, Guide Dogs and PDSA with regular grant funding.
