A MOTORBIKE rider was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Dudley.

He was hit by the car at the junction of Wolverhampton Street and Southalls Lane at about 7.30pm last night Sunday (May 9).

The rider was taken to the QE hospital with "a serious, but non life-threatening injury."

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and a motorbike at the junction of Wolverhampton Street and Southalls Lane at 7.32pm.

"One ambulance attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was the motorcyclist.

"He was treated for a serious, but non life-threatening injury, before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham for further treatment."

Dudley Fire Station posted on Facebook on Sunday evening saying: "We are currently at an incident where a motorcyclist has been involved in a hit and run.

"The road is closed on Southalls Lane, but if you have any information on a red Vauxhall Corsa that has left the scene prior to emergency service attendance, please contact West Midlands Police on 101."

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We are investigating a non-stop collision involving a car and a motorbike at the junction of Southalls Lane and Wolverhampton Road, Dudley, at about 7.40pm on Sunday (9 May).

"The rider of the motorbike was taken to hospital with leg and hand injuries which are understood not to be life-threatening.

"The driver of the car, believed to be a red Corsa, did not remain at the scene.
