OUTDOOR workout sessions are back on in the borough's parks - with free instructor training on offer for volunteer helpers.

Dudley Council's Park Active circuit-based sessions are running again at Stevens Park in Wollescote, Stevens Park in Quarry Bank and Grange Park, Dudley.

It is hoped more volunteers will come forward to allow further sessions to resume in Abbey Street, Gornal and Buffery Park, Kates Hill.

Volunteers who decide to take up the free training offer will earn first aid, safeguarding and fitness qualifications, as well as a free badged kit for those leading sessions.

The free sessions take place on Saturdays from 9.45am in Stevens Park, Wollescote, from 10am on Sundays in Grange Park, Dudley and from 11am in Stevens Park, Quarry Bank.

Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member elect for health and social care, said: "These fantastic circuit classes give people the chance to exercise in the great outdoors and we are delighted to have them back up and running as restrictions relax.

"We would like to get Abbey Street's and Buffery's back up and running too, and we urgently need volunteers in Dudley."
