PLANS to build homes on part of the former Duncan Edwards pub site in Dudley have been given the thumbs-up by planners.
Twelve three-bedroom homes will be built on the empty land on Maple Road.
The application to Dudley Council notes that the land is part of the site of the Duncan Edwards pub, which was demolished in 2006 "following fire damage."
Each semi-detached house will have two parking spaces.
A design and access statement states that the application would create a "new, high quality, residential development that makes better use of a vacant site and its sustainable location" and that it is a "chance to deliver a scheme which enhances the townscape visually."
The 0.26 hectare plot on the corner of Maple Road and Limes Road is near Dudley town centre.
The application states the "two-storey houses feature kitchen, dining and living areas at ground floor with the family bathroom, master suite and bedrooms 2 & 3 located on the upper floor.
"All plots feature glazed doors to allow the garden to become an extension of the internal living space."
There would be access from Maple Road.
The application notes that most trees on the site will remain, except those in the south-west.
A report by planners recommending approval states: "The principle of the development on the site is considered to be acceptable.
"The design and layout, the impact upon residential amenity and highway safety are also acceptable."
