A MURDER investigation has been launched after a man was fatally shot in Oldbury this morning (Sunday, June 20).

Officers were called to Dudley Road East in Tividale just before 1.30am, where a man was found with serious gunshot wounds.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "Our investigation is in the early stages and we have closed off the area as forensic examinations are carried out.

Following the shooting, Rizwan Jalil, councillor for the Oldbury ward in Sandwell said on Twitter: "Deeply saddened by the fatal shooting in Tividale in the early hours of this morning.

"Police are appealing for anyone to please come forward with any information.

"My deepest condolences are with the family and friends at this devastating time."
