TEMPORARY traffic lights have been installed at a Lower Gornal road junction while urgent water works take place.
Dudley Council's highways department has confirmed South Staffordshire Water are undertaking “immediate” works on Himley Road (B4176), at the junction of Bull Street.
To control traffic, the fixed signals at the junction have had to be switched off and temporary four-way signals installed - network manager Andrew Sumner said.
The temporary lights are being manually controlled from 7am to 7pm and the works are expected to be taking place until Wednesday August 4.
Congestion in the area is expected to be high, especially at peak traffic times, so motorists are urged to find alternative routes if possible.

Nathan Harper, head of network operations at South Staffs Water, said: “We have been working as fast as we can, to repair a leak on our network at Himley Road.
"We have set up temporary traffic lights, which will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, as we know this is a very busy junction and want to keep the traffic moving as much as we can.
"We are on schedule to remove the lights by August 4 and I’m sorry for any inconvenience it has caused.”
