A NEW cafe is set to open in Dudley town centre after plans were given the thumbs up.
An empty unit next to the Trident Centre will be transformed into a cafe and takeaway called Flaming Ice after Dudley Council approved plans.
Six full-time jobs will be created.
Plans show seating for 28 people, a waffle machine, ice cream machine, fryers for chips, a breading table and a bun toaster.
The application states: "The proposal forms part of an overall regeneration masterplan of the whole Trident Shopping Centre which is currently under design development.
"This application relates solely to the 198 high street and should be considered as a stand-alone application."
The cafe will open from 11am till 11pm.
A report by planners states: "It is not considered that the proposed café use would have any detrimental impact on the amenity of surrounding residential occupiers in the vicinity.
"The use is appropriate for a centre location such as this and the proposal accords with local and national planning policy."
