HEALTH chiefs are reminding people that a number of pharmacies across the Black Country will be open this August Bank Holiday.

The pharmacies will be available on Bank Holiday Monday (August 30) for prescriptions, non-urgent medical advice and treatment of common ailments.

No appointment is necessary to see a pharmacist and most have private consultation areas.

A full list of the pharmacies open this Bank Holiday, as well as opening times, can be found online here.

Dr Masood Ahmed, chief medical officer for Black Country and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “With the Bank Holiday weekend approaching, we’re reminding people that the way they access and receive health and care services will be different. A number of GP practices and pharmacies will be closed.

“There are numerous pharmacies across the area that will be open. It’s also a good idea to order any repeat prescribed medication ahead of the long weekend."

Anyone who needs urgent help that is not an emergency should use the NHS 111 service online or call NHS 111.
