A 32-YEAR-OLD Dudley man has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker after a policeman was barged.

The police officer had attended a report of an assault at a property in Main Street, Tiddington, in Warwickshire, on Saturday (September 11) morning.

While there he was shoulder barged by a suspect.

The 32-year-old Dudley man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault and assaulting an emergency worker.

He was later bailed while enquiries continue.

Warwickshire Police said the incident was one of three alleged assaults of officers over the weekend.

Two officers reported being punched in the head in the early hours of Sunday morning while detaining a suspect in connection with an assault in High Street, Rugby.

A 29-year-old man from Rugby was arrested on suspicion of assaulting emergency workers and assault. He was later bailed while enquiries continue.

A spokesman for the force said: "Fortunately none of the officers were seriously injured."
