A MAN from Dudley has been charged with attempted murder following a hit and run that left a man fighting for life in hospital.
Shanardo Whittaker, aged 31 from Dudley, was arrested by police yesterday morning from his home address.
Police suspect him of driving a car that knocked down a 33-year-old man in Hamstead Road in Handsworth at around 6am on October 31.
The victim remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Police charged Whittaker, aged 31, with attempted murder and he is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning (November 6).
He was also arrested on suspicion of attacking a 35-year-old man, the hit and run victim’s friend, with a knife shortly before the collision.
That man suffered serious stab wounds but is now recovering at home.
Whittaker has been bailed in relation to the knife attack while police continue their enquiries.
Police are still appealing for witnesses and have asked asked anyone with information to get in touch quoting log number 905 of 31/10/21.
