STORM Arwen is sweeping the country, with a number of weather warnings in place across the region.

In Worcestershire itself, warnings for wind and rain have been issued, with events like the Malvern Christmas Festival and Worcester Saturday Market being cancelled.

Further afield, a red weather warning in the north-east saw Worcester Warriors' away match with Newcastle postponed until tomorrow.

Despite the weather warnings, Worcester City Council maintained the Christmas lights switch-on would still be happening as planned.
