MOTORISTS are urged to take care in the foggy conditions which are likely to linger until lunchtime on Tuesday.

A fog warning has been issued for the West Midlands, with areas of dense and freezing fog set to develop from 7pm tonight (Monday January 17) and persisting overnight until midday on Tuesday January 18.

Met Office forecasters have said the foggy conditions may cause slower travel and possible hazardous driving conditions and disruption in places.

There may be delays to bus and train services and a chance of delays or cancellations to flights.

Visibility may dip below 100 metres in some locations and temperatures are expected to fall to 0°C in the early hours.

Fog is expected to lift into low cloud in many areas on Tuesday, though a few spots may stay foggy into the afternoon.
