A 35-year-old Dudley man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape following an incident in Wordsley.
A woman was sexually assaulted in a wooded area close to Bells Lane, police said.
The attack took place at around 2.15pm on Saturday (May 14).
A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape after police launched an appeal.
He remained in police custody as officers carried out inquiries.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "A man has been arrested following a sexual assault in Wordsley on Saturday (May 14).
"The incident happened in a wooded area close to Bells Lane, Wordsley, at around 2.15pm on Saturday (May 14).
"The victim is being supported by specially-trained officers.
"A 35-year-old man, from Dudley, was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape."
They added: "He remains in police custody while inquiries continue."
