VOLUNTEERS will be carrying out a litter pick to help spruce up a Dudley park.

A team of volunteers is set to clean-up at Priory Park on Saturday June 25, from 10am till noon.

They will also be picking up litter at Priory ruins and Coronation Gardens and are being supported by Dudley Council.

People are welcome to help on the day.

The clean-up is part of a regional initiative led by Keep Britain Tidy which aims to tidy the region ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

The men and women’s cycling time trial event of the Games will run past the park on August 4.

Councillor Shaz Saleem, cabinet member for public realm, said: "Volunteers like this are a huge credit to this borough and I thank them very much for their work.

"There’s a big summer ahead with thousands of people coming to our borough – initiatives like this help us keep the place looking in top condition."
