A GROUP of Herefordshire teenagers came away with top honours on a recent trip to the Netherlands.

Some 64 youngsters took part in the Hereford Lions Club organised trip as part of the International Football Tournament and Youth Exchange which took place in Vianen and Lexmond.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic this has been the first youth exchange for three years.

This was the 45th year of the annual exchange and Hereford Lions ran out overall winners of the tournament.

The under-13 boys led the way winners their age group and were the highest scoring team of the tournament.

Luke Morrison scored a total of 16 tournament goals as his side won every game.

The under-13 boys' player of the tournament was Harry Rees who as well as scoring two goals provided a total of 15 assists.

The under-17 boys were also winners of their age group after winning 10 and drawing one match.

Harley Morris scored eight goals for the under-17s while Zac Bruton was named player of the tournament in the age category.

In the under-15 boys age category the Hereford Lions finished runner-up.

During the final heavy rain and controversial off-side decisions saw them beaten 1-0.

Players player went to Olly Ricketts with manager's player to Jacob Thomas.

Meanwhile, the under-13 girls were unbeaten winning five of their eight matches and drawing two.

They only conceded two goals and scored 12.

Player of the tournament was Molly Camden who received signed Lions shirt.

Top scorers were Ella Bowen and Harriet Adams who scored four goals each.
