PLANS to create a new multi-million-pound primary school in the north of the Dudley borough have been approved at full council.
Dudley Council aims to redevelop the old Coseley High School site to create a two-form entry primary school and a 52-place nursery.
The council is working with the Department for Education (DfE) to progress the plans to create Coseley Technology Primary School, which would be run by Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust.
At their last meeting cabinet members approved a council contribution of £3million to fund the upgrade of the sports pitches and the addition of an indoor multi-use facility, and this was rubber stamped by the full council at a meeting last night (Monday July 11).
The DfE, which is investing £10.2million into the project, asked the council to fund the cost of the demolition of the school sports hall, squash courts and caretaker’s lodge prior to it submitting a planning application.
The plan will also includes an upgrade and refurbishment of the football changing rooms, which will be available for community use.
