AN elderly man has died after a ‘medical emergency’ at Quarry Bank Community Centre.

Emergency services were called to the community centre on Sheffield Street just before 4:30 pm on Wednesday, November 16.

Paramedics found an elderly man in cardiac arrest and gave him advanced life support.

Despite best efforts, he was confirmed dead at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 4.21 pm to a medical emergency at Quarry Bank Community Centre in Brierley Hill.

“Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a Critical Care Car from the Air Ambulance Service and a Patient Transport Service crew attended the scene.

“Upon arrival, we found an elderly man in critical condition. He received advanced life support from ambulance staff at the scene.

“Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, it became clear that nothing more could be done to save him, and he was confirmed deceased.”

A spokesperson from West Midlands Police said: "We were called to Quarry Bank Community Centre on Sheffield Street shortly before 4.30 pm yesterday following reports a man was in cardiac arrest.

"Colleagues from the ambulance also attended and despite their best efforts the man was declared dead at the scene."
