A CAROLS on the Canal Christmas carol and crafting event will be held at the Delph Stables at Brierley Hill’s Nine Locks for the first time ever.

Taking place on Saturday December 3, the event will include crafting activities and a chance to make Christmas decorations, free hot drinks and mince pies, and festive songs sung by pupils from Brierley Hill Primary School.

Brierley Hill councillor Adam Davies, who has worked with Canal & River Trust volunteers and Brierley Hill Primary to organise the event, said: “It’s so great that we’re able to invite local people to Delph Stables for this relatively small but truly special Christmas event.

“The volunteers passionately give their time looking after our canals throughout the year and can’t wait to welcome people to the Stables at the top of the iconic Nine Locks.”

Canal & River Trust volunteers will also be giving information about the history of the Delph Stables – thought to be the last intact canal stable block in the Black Country.

The event will follow Brierley Hill’s Christmas lights switch on which is taking place at 5pm on the Moor Centre.

Doors at Delph Stables will be open for craft making and hot drinks from 5.30pm and Christmas carols will begin at 6pm.

No parking is available at the Stables, so people attending are advised to travel by foot.
