THE first-ever Carols on the Canal Christmas event at the Delph Stables at Brierley Hill has been hailed a huge success.

The event was held at the grade II listed stables at the Nine Locks on December 3.

Brierley Hill councillor Adam Davies worked with Canal & River Trust volunteers and Brierley Hill Primary to organise the event which included crafting activities, free hot drinks and mince pies, and festive songs sung by pupils from Brierley Hill Primary School.

Cllr Davies thanked all those who turned out to make the first event of its kind “so amazing” and he added: “Events like this don't just happen, they happen because people come together to create special moments – and this was one of those special moments.”

Gemma Coley from Canal & River Trust added: "Our first ever Carols on the Canal was a massive success and to see the local community come together and enjoy the moment was really special.”
