NEW crossing patrols to help children get to school safely are being sought.

Friendly, enthusiastic people are invited to apply for permanent roles on offer at 13 borough schools including sites in Dudley, Gornal, Coseley, Halesowen, Kingswinford, Stourbridge and Wordsley.

The roles are for approximately seven hours per week with split morning and afternoon shifts in term time only.

Councillor Shaz Saleem, cabinet member for highways and public realm, said: "Our school crossing patrols do a fantastic job to keep children safe. They quickly become a valued part of their local community and many of our patrols have been working with us for decades."

Councillor Ruth Buttery, cabinet member for children and young people, added: "These are rewarding, permanent jobs and I hope anyone who can commit an hour or so each day to the role will consider applying."
