THE communities of Kingswinford and Wall Heath will be celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III with a large parade through the villages.

The event, taking place on Sunday May 7, has been masterminded by Michelle Preston of The Horse and Jockey and supported by councillors Ed Lawrence and Phil Atkins.

It will start at 1pm at the Royal British Legion HQ in Kingswinford and will travel through Moss Grove, Dudley Road and Enville Road, before finishing up at Dudley Kingswinford Rugby Club, in Wall Heath.

Around 22 floats will feature in the parade including 10 lorries supplied by JJX Logistics and Hingley Transport.

Summerhill School, Maidensbridge and Church of Ascension Primary Schools are among community organisations decorating floats for the event. Roberts Farm Shop will also have a float and the Mayor of Dudley is set to travel on one.

Cllr Lawrence said: “We want as many people as possible lining the route and waving flags.

“This will be one of the biggest events ever held in Kingswinford and Wall Heath and I really want to thank all those involved who have made this possible.

"The whole community has come together, local businesses, local groups and residents. It’s wonderful to be part of this and it’s going to be a fantastic day.”

Dudley Council will manage the road closures and celebratory events will take place in Kingswinford from 11am and Wall Heath from midday.
