PEOPLE living and working in Dudley and Sandwell are among those who have been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours List.

The following honours have been awarded to the following people, it was announced in the official list published on Saturday (June 17):

Medallists of the Order of the British Empire (BEM)

Community champion Edna May Chapple - for services to the community in Sedgley.

Officers of the Order of the British Empire (OBE)

Pauline Jones – Dudley-based employer and partnership manager for the Department for Work and Pensions – for services to the community in Birmingham, particularly during the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE)

Bawa Singh Dhallu – former Labour councillor and mayor for Sandwell Council – for political and voluntary Service

Present and former West Midlands Police officers were also honoured.

Sergeant Harvy Rai who co-founded the WMP and National Sikh Police Association, was awarded the MBE.

Former chief superintendent Dave Sturman, who oversaw the policing operation for the Commonwealth Games, and former detective inspector Bob Denaro, whose work put criminals behind bars for hundreds of years, also received the King's Police Medal (KPM).
