DUDLEY streets are set to be pounded by three new officers who have joined Dudley police station.

Inspector Chris Dowen, who can be regularly seen travelling the streets of the town on a bike, has been appointed sector inspector for Dudley. He has 16-years policing experience behind him and has been based at Brierley Hill for the last three years.

He said: "I am really proud to have been chosen as the sector inspector for the Dudley area. I am really impressed with the commitment and hard work of the officers here and it has been really heartening for me to go to public meetings and hear praise for the positive work they are doing.

"There is a real positive approach to problem solving in Dudley and our local partners are working well with our officers to deal with the issues that the local community identify."

Working alongside Inspector Dowen is Sergeant Steve Gordon, who heads the Wrens Nest and Milking Bank neighbourhood policing team and police constable Jon McAdam, who has joined the Russells Hall and Scotts Green team.

Sergeant Gordon, who has joined the Dudley team from CID. He said: "I am really enjoying working in the Wrens Nest and Milking Bank area. I have already made good contacts with some of the key people in the area and I think that we are in a strong position to deal with the issues identified by the local community.

"With the help of local people I am sure that we will make sure that the area is one where everyone feels safe and happy to live."

PC Jon McAdam added: "I am really pleased to be joining the Russells Hall Team and I can't wait to get to know some of the local residents so that I can help to make a difference in their area."

Netherton police station have also welcomed a new officer in charge of the neighbourhood team with Sergeant Jon Andrews taking over the reigns.
