WORDSLEY is set to host its first Christmas lights switch on thanks to community efforts.

Festive fun is planned at Wordsley Green on Saturday December 2 thanks to councillor Kerry Lewis, The Friends of Wordsley Parks, The Old Cat Pub and Thomas Jones Fair.

Black Country Radio will be keeping people entertained from 4pm until 7pm with a line-up of local artists on their outdoor stage, including Belle-Vue Primary School’s choir.

Businesses will be extending their opening hours for late night shopping and there’ll be Christmas stalls with handmade gifts and stocking fillers, and warming winter food and drink available.

Wordsley Library will be open for festive activities and Santa will be popping by before he officially switches on the Christmas lights at 6pm with the Mayor of Dudley – Councillor Andrea Goddard.

Councillor Lewis said: “It’s the first time a Christmas event like this as happened in Wordsley and we look forward to welcoming the local community."
