FIREFIGHTERS battled a car blaze on a dual carriageway near Russells Hall Hospital and Pegasus Academy.

The fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon (January 10) on Kingswinford Road in Dudley.

West Midlands Fire Service confirmed that no one was hurt in the incident.

A fire brigade spokesperson said: “Fire engines from Dudley and Brierley Hill attended, the first arriving within four minutes of being mobilised.

“This was a car fire on the dual carriageway. Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire, which closed the dual carriageway for a time whilst emergency services worked at the scene.

"The driver and a passenger in the car sustained no injuries and were able to free themselves from the vehicle".

The road re-opened a short time later and West Midlands Police arranged the recovery of the vehicle.
