KINGSWINFORD and Stourbridge Lions Club has handed over £13,000 to good causes in the community.

At a presentation evening on Friday February 9 at Stourbridge Institute and Social Club, Lions president Steve Rice thanked kind-hearted volunteers who helped to collect donations in the run-up to Christmas during the group’s annual festive sleigh outings.

He also thanked members of the community for their generosity and the management of supermarkets Sainsbury's, Aldi, and Morrisons for allowing collections outside their shops during the busy Christmas period.

Dudley South MP Mike Wood, who handed out donations at the presentation event, said: "The Lions and all those who volunteer with them do a fantastic job at raising vital funds that really make a difference to good causes and charities across our community.

"It was a real pleasure to present the donations at the Lions annual presentation evening."

Except for 2020 when Covid put a stop to fundraising, the Lions have since 2014 managed to collect more than £10,000 every year for charitable causes.

The club is always on the lookout for new volunteers.
