RESURFACING works will be taking place in Brierley Hill town centre next month as part of a multi-million pound regeneration project.

Roads to be resurfaced are Brierley Hill High Street, Mill Street, Cottage Street and Pearson Street. There will also be works to parts of Dudley Road, Bank Street, Level Street, Moor Street and Little Cottage Street.

The work will begin on Tuesday April 2 and is expected to run for around three weeks.

Councillor Paul Bradley, deputy leader of Dudley Council and cabinet member for economic delivery, said: “Brierley Hill high street has had significant investment over the last 12 months, and the resurfacing works taking place in April form part of realising our exciting vision for the town’s future.”

He added: “Work is also currently underway at Brierley Hill market and we are reminding everyone to come and support their local town with businesses open as normal.”

The resurfacing work will be carried out during the evening and overnight between 7pm and 5am the next morning.

The affected roads will have phased closures, with diversions and road signs in place.

Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for highways and environment at the council, said: “The resurfacing will take place during evenings and overnight, when there is less traffic in the area, but resident access to frontages will be maintained wherever it is safe to do so.

“We are asking people not to park on the carriageway when traffic cones are in place advising of no parking as this could delay works.”

Brierley Hill is receiving £10million from the Future High Streets Fund bid, awarded by central Government for key transformation works including improving connectivity and integration, refurbishments to the library, the recent reopening of the public toilets and works to improve the look and feel of the High Street.
