A DRINK-driver caught out near Hereford's Edgar Street football stadium has been banned from the roads.

Adam Stephens entered a guilty plea to one count of driving while over the alcohol limit when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in March.

The court heard from prosecutor Lauren Millichip that the 40-year-old had been caught out in Hereford's Edgar Street after getting behind the wheel of a white Ford Fiesta while over the drink-driving limit on January 19.

Stephens, of Yazor Road, Hereford, was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £300 for the offence, with magistrates saying that they had taken his guilty plea to the charge into account when imposing the penalty.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £124 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
