THE M5 has re-opened following an earlier police incident affecting the stretch of motorway between Quinton and Oldbury.
National Highways: West Midlands has confirmed the motorway has reopened in both directions after an incident which saw emergency services called to the scene and traffic delays of up to 30 minutes reported.
A post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) read: “The Police incident has concluded and the #M5 has reopened in both directions between J3 #Quinton and J2 #Oldbury. There are approx. 2 miles of congestion following this incident in both directions so please allow time for this to clear.”

Our live traffic report feed, supplied by Inrix, states: "Traffic easing, earlier police incident on M5 both ways from J2 A4123 Wolverhampton Road (Oldbury / Dudley) to J3 A456 Quinton Expressway (Halesowen / Birmingham)."
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to reports that a man had been seen on the wrong side of the bridge, but the motorway has now re-opened."
