A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article following a police stop and search. 

Dudley Police said they arrested a 16-year-old boy in Dudley last night (Tuesday, May 14) following reports of youths in the Woodside Park area with weapons. 

The report came in shortly before 7pm with officers attending the scene to find a group of youths. 

They ran away but police were able to detain a 16-year-old boy who was the subject of a stop and search. 

Police found a large knife in his possession and he was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a bladed article. 

He was later released on bail while enquiries continue. 

A spokesperson for Dudley Police said: "We’ve taken another knife off our streets after making an arrest in the Woodside area of Dudley last night (May 14).

"We attended Woodside Park just before 7pm acting on reports of youths in the area with weapons.

"On arrival, we spotted a group, who upon seeing officers, ran away. However, we were able to detain a 16-year-old boy who was the subject of a stop and search. A large knife was found in his possession.

"He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a bladed article and later released on conditional bail while our enquiries continue."
