DRONE pictures show the scene of a fire in Dudley Wood which saw plumes of smoke visible for miles around.
Residents reported hearing a 'huge bang' as a fire broke out on wastleland on Quarry Road yesterday Monday (July 8) at around 1.20pm.
Firefighters fought the blaze, which involved two trailers and a large refrigerated lorry carrying artificial grass and decking.
Officers from West Midlands Police were also at the scene, helping with traffic management as the road was closed. People living near the scene said they heard a 'huge bang' on social media.
A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson said: "Shortly after 1.20pm, we responded to Quarry Road, Netherton.
"A fire engine and two 4x4 brigade response vehicles from Brierley Hill and Haden Cross responded, the first arriving within five minutes of being mobilised.
"This was a fire affecting two trailers and a large refrigerated lorry on wasteground.
"The lorry was carrying artificial grass and decking.
"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used four jets to extinguish the fire.
"Quarry Road was closed for a time whilst emergency services worked at the scene, but has since re-opened.
"Police colleagues were in attendance to assist with traffic management.
"We left the scene at 2.55pm."
