A start-up energy management consultancy has gained new clients and is expanding its team.

Brierley Hill-based Greenfields Energy Group was set up by Liam Conway and Rich Clark and has gained 72 clients over the last 12 months.

They are managing more than 361 million kWh of contracts, which is expected to grow due to partnerships with the Surface Engineering Association and the Confederation of British Metalforming (CBM).

The partnerships provide support with technical webinars, seminars and advice for members.

Rich Clark, an experienced energy procurement specialist, said: "There has been a real appetite for our services, which is basically an alternative approach to energy and utilities management.

"We’re all about people and relationships - getting to know the management teams, their businesses and how we can use our knowledge of the industry to ensure they are well placed with electricity and gas contracts."

Greenfields has recently made two new strategic appointments to help them onboard more customers, Neil Freeman and Lindsay Williams, who are to be the account director and head of Energy Bureau, respectively.

Mr Freeman joined this week, with the task of focusing on strategic client management and will be joined next month by Ms Williams.

Mr Conway said: "These are two high-profile appointments that will really make our sector stand up and take notice of what we’re doing and how fast we are growing – whilst all the time maintaining our same high levels of performance and service."

He added that an increase in clients is moving back to the more traditional method of fully fixed contracts due to their being more palatable in recent months.

Mr Conway said there is still demand for a collective flexible product, which gives slightly smaller clients the ability to access the same market as bigger firms.
