Ofsted has described a school as "a happy place to be" in its latest inspection.

Queen Victoria Primary School, located on Bilston Street in Sedgley, received the praise in a new Ofsted report.

The report recognises significant improvements at the school since its last inspection.

Matt Priest, acting headteacher, said: "This report is a real milestone for Queen Victoria Primary."

"We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved together and excited to continue building on this success."

Under Ofsted’s new report card framework, Queen Victoria Primary was judged to be at the "expected standard" in all areas except for early years, which was rated "strong."

Inspectors described the school as “a happy place to be,” noting that "pupils enjoy coming to school" and benefit from positive changes made since the previous inspection.

Inspectors said: "From the moment children enter, kind and caring staff meet their needs effectively" and the "relationships are warm and supportive."

The report also commended the school’s understanding of its community, its focus on broadening pupils’ horizons and aspirations, and the support provided by governors and trustees.

Ofsted highlighted the school’s ambitious curriculum and emphasis on vocabulary, communication, and foundational knowledge from the outset of children’s education.

Inspectors said leaders had created a school environment that was "calm, inclusive and welcoming," helping pupils feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.

Staff wellbeing was also recognised, with inspectors noting that staff felt "valued and supported" in their roles.

Rachel Salter, CEO of the trust, said: "We are absolutely delighted with this positive Ofsted outcome for Queen Victoria Primary School.

"It is a powerful endorsement of the dedication, resilience and ambition shown by everyone in the school community over the past three years since Queen Victoria joined Stour Vale Academy Trust.

"The rapid improvements recognised by inspectors are the result of an unwavering focus on providing the very best education for every child, coupled with a determination to raise standards in every aspect of school life.

The school said it will use the report as a foundation to continue its progress and deliver high-quality education to children in the Sedgley area.
