A “FLABBERGASTED” councillor said he is once again preparing to fight for the people of Dudley as the mosque gets the go-ahead.

UKIP councillor Malcolm Davis said the decision by the Bristol-based inspector is “a terrible travesty of justice.”

The St James’ ward councillor, who was the spokesman for the thousands of protestors and handed in the 22,000 signature petition against the plans, said he is now going to “organise the largest petition that Dudley has ever seen.”

He added: “I am absolutely flabbergasted that this has gone through, nobody thought it was possible, as they didn’t prove one thing during the appeal.

“It will cause a lot civil unrest if it goes up so I will organise another petition to demand this council to activate that covenant of land - that will be the next positive move.

“I am hoping people won’t just roll over again. It is obvious no one wants the thing, it won’t do Dudley any good and it is obvious Dudley people won’t use the community centre.

“But they have only got outline permission at the moment and they need to submit detailed plans to the council.

“We can object against the signage, the design, any inconvenience to traffic or pedestrian problems - it will all be brought out all over again.

“I am not rolling over, my phone has not stopped ringing yet. I am preparing to fight again.”
