STAFF and students at The Kingswinford School are set to say a fond farewell to their popular Headteacher who is retiring at the end of the week.

Peter Limb is taking early retirement after chalking up 35 years in education as a Maths teacher.

The 58-year-old started working at the Water Street school in 1987 as Deputy Head, after beginning his teaching career in Nottinghamshire in 1974.

In January 2005 Mr Limb took over as Headteacher, but as well as taking over the school reigns as Head, he also continued to teach Maths to the students - something which he says he will greatly miss.

Speaking about his retirement, Mr Limb said: “I’ve had a fabulous time here. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself and it has been an honour to work with absolutely superb staff and fantastic students.”

He added: “I really will miss it here, it has been the best school to work at and I will certainly miss teaching Maths.

“I am really sad to be going, but I am looking forward to travelling. I’ve also taken up golf and I’ve got a grandson that I can spend more time with”.

As part of a day of celebrations on Friday (April 3) the staff are inviting any past pupils of Mr Limb’s to visit and say goodbye from 9am until 11.30am.

Deputy Headteacher, Bronwyn Hedley, added: “We are all really upset he is going, the school won’t be the same without him and he will be really missed by everyone, which is why we are inviting past pupils to say goodbye to him on Friday. We hope as many of them as possible will get chance to come in.”

Mr Francis, Headteacher of nearby Crestwood School will take up the headship of The Kingswinford School on April 20.
