A DUDLEY Wood church is getting set to begin celebrations for its 60th anniversary.
St John the Evangelist Church in St Anne’s Road is holding a week of special services and events to celebrate the diamond milestone since the consecration of the building as a parish church.
The celebrations will kick off on Saturday, September 26 with a Diamond Anniversary Barn Dance and will end with the Harvest Festival on Sunday, October 4.
However, the main festivities will take place on the anniversary day itself – Tuesday, September 29 – with a service of Holy Communion followed by refreshments in the church hall.
The special service will be led by the Bishop of Dudley.
In preparation for the celebrations, church members are appealing to anyone who has been involved with St John’s over the last 60 years, especially those who were married or baptised in the early years, to get in touch.
Members are hoping to put together a display covering the history of the parish and are on the lookout for photographs from residents which may be of interest for the exhibition.
If anyone has any pictures or information which can be borrowed for the celebrations, or for further information into the special services taking place during the week, call the Rev Judith Oliver on 01384 832164
