HIMLEY CC will be searching for instant redemption this Saturday when they host Kidderminster Victoria (noon start).

The Stourbridge Road side were crushed by 10 wickets at Walsall last weekend after a disastrous batting performance, their second straight defeat.

After being put into bat Himley were dismissed for just 72, having at various stages been 16-6 and 34-9. Paul Wicker took 6-20 for the home side.

Walsall then reached the target in just 8.5 overs, thanks to a quickfire 56 off just 23 balls from Jack Manuel, whose knock also included seven fours and three sixes.

Despite the thumping, Himley remain sixth in the Birmingham Premier League though the division is becoming increasingly congested and they are now just 13 clear of bottom placed Walmley.

There was also disappointment for the seconds who lost by eight wickets to Old Hill.

Bilall Hussain top scored with 58 as Himley posted 262-8.

Old Hill’s reply was as explosive with Mo Shoaib (110) and Andy Fisher (106) effectively deciding the game with an opening stand of 207, leaving Jordan Rose (30 not out) and James Hunt (13 not out) to complete an excellent victory.
