PUPILS from Bromley Pensnett primary school were given a special day of lessons as they welcomed representatives from the Police Dog Unit.

All the children the took part in the day, which included activities about personal safety and self defence training.

Police dog handlers, alongside their dogs Pride, Itch, Arnie and Tess, showed how police dogs are used to search for drugs, cash and firearms.

Officers from the Brockmoor and Pensnett neighbourhood policing team also spoke about internet safety and discussed the illegal use of mini motos in public places. The event was rounded off with the children designing a poster to highlight their favourite part of the day, with winners and runners up from each year.

Headteacher Alyson Smith, said; “The day was fabulous. It was lovely for the children to interact with the police in an informal way.”
