SPORTS let slip a first-half lead to a resurgent Wolves in another West Midlands League fixture marred by refereeing errors.

When official Robert Usher failed to spot a back-pass by Dudley defender Mark Bache to keeper Mark Fullwood in the 74th minute it merely provided some welcome light relief but by that stage the referee had already made a significant contribution, with a hand in the visitors' second goal.

Wolves winger Curtis Ellis had gone on an impressive mercurial run in the 51st minute but when he was marshalled across the edge of the area by the home defenders he tumbled far too easily to win a free-kick five yards outside the D.

Mr Usher then compounded his error by pacing out 12 yards for the defensive wall so that when Ellis attempted donkey-kick routine with Tom Maydew failed he had plenty of time to recover and steer a low drive in off the wall despite Fullwood getting a glove on it.

Sports were incensed but from that point neither side looked convincing going forward.

Dudley had weathered early pressure before hitting back as Matt Weyman saw his effort hacked off the line by Matt Turner. Ten minutes later the hosts went ahead thanks to a delightful bit of skill from former Bromsgrove man Jolly Pheon, who used his electric pace to go round the right-hand side of full-back Weyman - having knocked the ball to the left of him - before collecting and crossing for Daniel Tomlinson to finish.

Dan Newman fired over for Casuals who had a strong penalty shout turned down in the 31st minute, Joe Pickering denied by a grounded Fullwood as the appeals rang out.

But Wolves were leve in the 45th minute when Maydew was strongest in the tackle against Luke Astley and cut inside Robert Whittey to crash a convincing effort, left-footed past Fullwood.

After the decisive goal Newman sent a rasping drive narrowly over and Andy Blakeley hurled in a hanging cross for Adam Wright to head over but it was all over bar the shouting and Mr Usher ensured there was plenty of that.
