NEIL Shillingford hailed Dudley Kingswinford’s win over Lichfield as a “job well done” as his side stayed perfect.

The result kept intact DK’s 100 per cent start to the season and saw their lead at the top of Midlands One West jump back to three points.

Five tries also brought a bonus point and Shillingford believes it is important his side score well when they have the chance.

He said: “It was a very pleasing performance, a job well done.

“We achieved everything we set out to do including the bonus point.

“It’s important we continue to pick the extra points up.

“If you look at the early season fixtures we had a few tough games but maybe we should have scored more than we did.

“Other teams have chances to pick these points up and by the end of the season it can be like having a loss against you name.”

Jamie Ramsey, Stefan Shilingford, Ian Langford, James Jefferson and Tom Weaver were the try scorers on Saturday after DK had fallen behind in the first minute - not the first time they have conceded early this season.

Shillingford added: “I don’t know what it is, I just think a few of the lads are a bit slow at switching on.

“Apart from that we were pretty much in control, conceding early does force you to re-focus pretty quickly and we did that.

“We had heard they were a very well drilled side and that was certainly the case.

“They were strong in the scrummage but we had planned for that and in the end our hard work on the training pitch paid off.”

DK have no reported injury concerns ahead of this weekend’s trip to Whitchurch, where Shillingford is expecting a tough task.

He added: “It’s really a case of any given weekend as to what you will face at Whitchurch.

“They can be very strong on their own patch.

“Over the next three games we really have to look to push on before we take on Old Halesonians, which is probably our next major test.

“We can’t afford to take anything for granted.”
