A four-star performance from Gornal hit man Cameron Morgan helped the home side to a comfortable performance against struggling Bromyard.

Gornal’s fifth win on the bounce in all competitions keeps them in the chasing pack with AFC Wulf’s and Bustleholme behind league leaders Tividale The win for Ian Rowe’s side looked likely as early as the second minute when Dave Meese kept up his rich vein of form to head Gornal into a lead they never really looked like relinquishing.

Cameron Morgan notched the first of his four goals on 18 minutes with a straightforward tap in and doubled his tally on 24 minutes with a header to put Gornal three to the good.

In between Cameron’s goals, Jake Morgan controlled a high ball well and set up a acrobatic volleying opportunity which was well handled by Bromyard keeper Luke James.

While the Peacocks threatened to run riot, the visitors made a credible job of battling after the early setbacks.

Indeed, over an hour of play passed between the third and fourth goals with Bromyard keeper James performing miracles between the sticks.

On 58 minutes Meese threaded a pass through to Cameron Morgan but James pulled off a superb one-on-one save and then made a fine save to deny Chris Bladen five minutes later.

When James denied Meese his second on 70 minutes with yet another excellent stop, it seemed the scoreline was destined to stay at three, despite long spells of Gornal pressure.

Bromyard had a rare opportunity on 74 minutes when Will Tolley’s goal-bound long-range effort was palmed over by James Pemberton.

But Gornal’s persistence finally paid off in the dying minutes when Cameron eventually punished a tiring Bromyard defense to claim his hat-trick before, in stoppage time, he slotted home to give the final score a rather more accurate reflection of the balance of play.
