POLICE are investigating an incident in Sledmere when shots were fired at a house over the weekend.

Officers were called to St Georges Road at 12.40am on February 26, when the occupant of a house returned home to find damage to the front door and window.

Further examination confirmed the damaged was caused by gunshots.

No one was inside the premises at the time of the shooting , which is believed to have occurred earlier in the evening at 11pm, and no one was injured.

Neighbourhood officers have delivered letters to all the residents in the street as they launch an investigation and appeal for witnesses.

Dudley North Inspector Richard Jones, said: "We have stepped up patrols in the area to reassure local residents who may be concerned by what has happened.

"Detectives are making enquiries into the matter and we urge anyone who was in the area on Friday night or who knows anything to give us a call."
