TONY Gore claims Dudley Sports’ topsy-turvy campaign has left him lost for words.

Sports have followed up an excellent win at Wednesfield with two straight defeats - including last Saturday’s 4-0 home reverse to Wellington.

And Gore admits he is struggling to comprehend a season in which players have regularly veered from world-beaters to puddings.

He said: “You wonder which Dudley Sports will turn up.

“Sometimes it’s a case of tonight Matthew we are going to be Juventus - other times it’s tonight Matthew we are going to be Fray Bentos!

“How can a side which beats Bustleholme, Lye and Wednesfield and runs Tividale and Gornal close go and lose to the side bottom of the league.

“I don’t really know what to put it down to.

“One thing I will not question is their ability - the players have go it. I just think sometimes they let their concentration slip.”

Sports have now lost four of their last five to end hopes of a top ten finish with just three games remaining. While Gore and joint boss Paul Blakeley will be disappointed with how things have panned out, there is no doubt Sports have certainly provided entertainment for the neutrals and are yet to draw a game this term.

But the statistics provide little comfort for Gore.

He added: “There have been goals every game but most of them have been in our own net!

“It’s incredibly frustrating as it has more or less been the same group of players all season.

“I just feel we have not had enough players playing well at the same time - too many have been off form.

“That said, we are still optimistic about the future, the players are young.

“It’s not like we have a group who are all in their late 20s - we had two 17-year-olds playing last week.”

Sports face a difficult looking trip to Bewdley Town on Saturday before finishing their season with derbies against Cradley Town and Lye Town the following weekend.

Dudley Town are without a game this weekend. Neil Perks’ side were beaten 7-0 by Cradley Town last Wednesday.
