ENVILLE recorded a derby win at Lye thanks to a strong batting display and a disciplined fielding performance.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat on a hot afternoon but again the opening pair failed to fire as they were quickly reduced to 21-2.

Greg Tomkins then took control, initially with Rob Miller (21) and then in a hard hitting partnership with Jay Willis.

Willis (76) and Tomkins (143) destroyed the Lye bowling, putting on 166 in only 20 overs as the hosts fielded poorly.

Leigh Passmore (27) also added useful runs towards the death as Enville ended on 322-8.

Willis (2-75) followed up his batting performance with two wickets in a 15 over opening spell as Lye’s reply floundered from the off.

Tracy Davies (3-68) was also in fine form as Enville took the game away from Lye, who subsided to 230 all out as the visitors recorded a 92-run victory.

The second XI could not emulate the success of the first XI as they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against their Lye counterparts.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat, they could only manage 185-9 off their 50 overs with Oliver Harris (60) and Paul Lippitt (38) the main contributors.

But in reply, Lye were staring defeat in the face as Nick Gordon (3-32) and Kyle Lockley (3-59) reduced them to 67-7 before an unbroken 122 run partnership between Gulbar Hussain (120) and Lawrence Vahey saw Enville hearts broken.

The thirds suffered a big 196 defeat to Bewdley, who racked up a mammoth 313-6 thanks to a century from Matt Thwaites and 91 from Robin Wilson.

Enville could only manage 117 all out with Trevor Spears scoring 59, Tom Springthorpe taking 4-21 and Andrew Stanhard 3-34.
