Budding young writers can get their imaginations going during a free creative writing taster session at a borough library later this month.
The free taster session will be held at Kingswinford Library, Market Street on Wednesday February 22 from 4.45 to 6.45pm.
Creative writer and youth worker Matt James will run the session, which is aimed at young people aged 11 to 16, at the Dudley Council-run library.
Matt will work with the young people to encourage them to think creatively. During the session, different genres including poetry will be explored. If the session proves successful, the group will meet monthly from April.
At the end of the session each young person will have the basis for a story that they can go away and develop.
Councillor Adrian Turner, cabinet member for housing, libraries and adult learning, said: “This is a great after-school session for youngsters in the area who are keen to develop their writing skills and find a new hobby. It may even be the first step to them becoming authors themselves one day.
“We’ve held creative writing sessions at many of our libraries and they have always proved extremely popular.”
