MOURNERS are set to pay their respects at the funeral of Dudley Council’s regeneration chief today.
Councillor Angus Adams died suddenly on April 9, after suffering a massive heart attack, aged 67.
His funeral was set to take place at 11.30am at St Mary's Church in Oldswinford, followed by a private internment, with donations towards Action Heart and Mary Stevens Hospice.
The popular councillor for Norton in Stourbridge, was also the borough’s cabinet member for regeneration and chairman of public transport authority Centro.
However unbeknown to many people, as a teenager, Angus was a keen runner and even represented his school in cross country.
Sedgley resident, Jon Richmond, who was at King Edwards Grammar School with Angus almost 50 years ago, sent in this photo of the school’s cross country team, which they were both members of.
Jon, aged 66, said: “Angus was a keen runner back then, which Iam sure a lot of people were unaware of. We competed in a lot of competitions together, from district runs to county and nationals.
“He was in the year above me, so left school before I did and I didn’t meet him again, but I always followed him in the papers.”
Angus leaves his long-term partner, Belle Vale councillor Jennie Dunn, two sisters, two daughters and three grandchildren.
