THE Worcester Diocesan Children’s Officer, Emma Pettifer, is flying out to Africa for a month this week to work with parishes and teachers on encouraging children’s spirituality.
The Diocese of Worcester has a partnership link with the Diocese of Morogoro in Tanzania and in recent months there have been a number of visits between the two counties.
Emma will be going out to spend a week working with teachers in African schools followed by three weeks travelling around the diocese working with clergy and Sunday School teachers in different parishes.
Emma, works with schools and parishes across Dudley, said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing what Christian children’s work is like in Africa and am hoping to be able to share experiences and working practices. I want to show that children can play a major role in churches if they’re allowed to. It’ll be a great experience and I believe it will really help to develop and strengthen my own faith.”
