A BOROUGH physiotherapist who took part in a grueling 24-hour challenge in aid of Childline and NSPCC has almost doubled her fundraising target for the charity.

Laura Grady, a community physiotherapist for the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, took part in the famous Three Peaks Challenge on September 29, scaling Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

The 29 year-old from Halesowen, who works in Dudley and Stourbridge, decided to raise funds to mark the charity’s 20th anniversary year after hearing how Childline was almost forced to close last year through lack of funding.

Taking on the challenge alongside her university friend and Birmingham-based drama physiotherapist, Louise Platt, the pair completed the fundraiser just over the 24 hours, after bad weather hampered their travelling time between the peaks.

Laura said: “We really enjoyed it although it was hard work. The weather was horrendous which made it even harder, but it was a good challenge to do.”

The pair, who set an initial target of £500 each have also been overwhelmed at raising almost £1,000 each for the cause and can still be sponsored by visiting justgiving.com/laura-jackson-Grady0 or justgiving.com/louise-platt0.
