DUDLEY’S The White House has unveiled a £13k refurbishment of its complementary therapy rooms, to allow cancer patients to relax in more luxurious surroundings.

The three rooms were officially re-opened by Dudley North MP Ian Austin.

As part of the work, staff at the Ednam Road base purchased new electric couches, as well as replacing the windows before completely redecorating the rooms and installing brand new fixtures and fittings.

Chris Barron, manager of White House Cancer Support, said: “The rooms were looking tired and shabby and hadn’t been redecorated for over 15 years, so this was long overdue.

"We were able to do this much needed work due to a large amount of fundraising from many people and organisations, so I must extend a huge thank you to everyone who has generously given up their time and money on behalf of the cancer patients and carers who will benefit from using these rooms.”

The charity provides over 1,200 complementary therapy sessions a year, with volunteer therapists providing aromatherapy, Indian head massage, hopi candles, massage, reiki and reflexology sessions.

Dudley North MP Ian Austin, said: Ian Austin MP: “This fantastic new facility will be a real help to people in Dudley suffering from cancer.

“Being diagnosed with cancer or caring for someone with cancer is one of toughest things people can go through and the care that White House offers is first class.

“The staff do a superb job and it’s an honour to open these new rooms which will allow them to further improve the support they can offer.”
