FIRE crews are reminding people to check their smoke alarms after an incident in Quarry Bank.
Crews from Brierley Hill and Cradley Heath were dispatched to a house in Charles Road at 5.55am today, (Saturday May 10).
On arrival firefighters found a blaze on the ground floor of the property, the lone occupier was led to safety and taken to hospital for a precautionary check.
Fire fighters also found a smoke alarm in the house which was not working which they say added to the severity of the incident.
A spokesman from West Midlands Fire Service said: “The importance of a working smoke alarm cannot be overstated, people must regularly check their smoke alarm to make sure it is working.”
